About Us

Origins:

Kinoebi was founded by Ash in April 2015. After moving to the US from Asia, Kinoebi was deeply affected by the widespread plastic pollution along beaches and rivers. To address this environmental crisis, Kinoebi set out to create a sustainable solution. At the same time, our co-founder, Joel, was expanding his outdoor e-commerce store and shared a passion for clean water. This desire stemmed from personal reasons: his wife was one of the over 400,000 people affected by the 1993 Cryptosporidium outbreak in Milwaukee. In early 2016, Joel and Kinoebi met in Boulder, Colorado, and their shared vision led them to join forces, reorganizing their company and dedicating themselves to reducing plastic waste and providing safer drinking water for all.

The company pioneered a bottle with a powerful filter, allowing people in countries with poor water quality to drink without getting sick, while also reducing the demand for single-use plastic bottles. In 2015, Flint, Michigan, made international headlines for its dire and unimaginable water contamination crisis, making it clear that water quality challenges aren't limited to developing countries.

Our mission is simple:

It's now clear that developed countries are the worst polluters of single-use plastic bottles because citizens in these countries don't trust the quality of their municipal water supplies, primarily due to industrial and agricultural pollutants. The truth is, bottled water is bad for our bodies, our wallets, and the planet. The sooner the world recognizes this, the better for everyone.
